The Costume Shop and Wardrobe Manager works closely with the students, artistic and production staff, guest choreographers and répétiteurs to realize costuming requirements of the organization.


  • Directly supervise Costume Shop and Wardrobe Department staff, volunteers and contracted workers including seamstresses.
  • Ensure the readiness of all costumes for all productions and educational programs including load-out and load-in.
  • Design, build and sew costumes.
  • Communicate with outside departments involved in the ballet to coordinate costuming objectives.
  • Maintain and organize all costumes and assign their repair when necessary.
  • Create and maintain an accurate inventory of costumes and keep them properly stored
  • Oversee the inventory of supplies that are needed in regards to the costume shop, which includes but is not limited to CPYB accounts regarding costume department purchases


  • High School Diploma/GED required;
  • Degree and/or work experience in business, fashion merchandising or other related field a plus.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working with children, administrative office work, and/or sewing field a plus.
  • Decisive problem solver with a self-directed work ethic.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate and provide project management to accomplish tasks as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate security clearances to work with children to include the PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Certification and the FBI Criminal Background Check required
  • Travel & transportation between office locations, off-site meetings, productions, etc. is required
  • Availability to work a variable schedule to accommodate productions, events and management of team is inclusive of daytime, evening and weekend hours is required.
