Alecia Good-Boresow began her training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) at age five under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary. From there she went on to study at the School of American Ballet (the official ballet school of New York City Ballet), Joffrey Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet. The founder and former director of the Kansas City Youth Ballet, Good-Boresow was appointed school principal of Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in November 2014.
Good-Boresow was invited to become a member of the corps de ballet of the Kansas City Ballet in 1983 under the directorship of renowned ballet dancer, teacher, and choreographer Todd Bolender. While there she danced many principal roles, including “Sugarplum Fairy,” “Snow Queen,” “Dew Drop Fairy” and “Mirlitons” in The Nutcracker, “Aurora” and “Bluebird” in George Balanchine’s Aurora’s Wedding, “Sanguinic” in Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, and “Swanilda” in Coppélia. In addition, Good-Boresow danced principal roles in Balanchine’s Concerto Barooco, Apollo, Allegro Brillante, The Firebird, Raymonda Variations, and Western Symphony, Bolender’s Souvenirs and Dance Concertante, Peter Anastos’ Yes, Virginia Another Piano Piece, Anthony Tudor’s Gala Performances, and Lew Christensen’s Con Amore. Good-Boresow also danced leading roles in contemporary works such as Alvin Ailey's The River and Memoriam and Clark Tippet’s Enough Said.
From 1985 until 1996, Good-Boresow was a rehearsal assistant for the Kansas City Ballet. After retiring from the professional stage in 1996, she founded and directed the Kansas City Youth Ballet (KCYB), formerly known as the Midwest Youth Ballet company, in 1997. She held that post for more than 11 years. Experienced in choreography, costuming and scenery design, Good-Boresow took the KCYB to perform in the Young Tanzsommer Festival in Austria and Germany in 2005 and 2008.
As an educator, Good-Boresow has taught for more than four years on CPYB Founding Artistic Director Marcia Daley Weary’s distinguished academic year faculty and more than 24 years on the CPYB 5-Week Summer Ballet Program faculty of dedicated dance instructors. She has taught at the Kansas City Ballet School, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, Miller-Marley School of Dance in Overland Park, Kansas, Shari Shell-True Dance Academy in Lincoln, Nebraska, Greater York Dance (Pennsylvania), and the Dance St. Louis summer programs. She earned Hallmark’s recognition in three ballerina calendars and has been listed in Who’s Who in American Teachers.
