CPYB is dedicated to providing a safe environment for learning. All CPYB volunteers are required to submit child abuse history certification and state criminal and federal criminal history (or exemption affidavit) clearances prior to approval as a volunteer and every 60 months after.
Clearances must be dated within the last five years to be valid.
As of July 25, 2015, the fees for the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification and State Police Criminal Background Clearance are $0. The FBI federal criminal history clearances maintains a cost, at the responsibility of the volunteer.

By Mail: Clearance will be mailed to the applicant's address that was noted on the application within 14 days from the date the application is received in the ChildLine Verification Unit. Download Form

Applicants can apply for their criminal record check online with the Pennsylvania State Police.

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services utilizes IDEMIA to process fingerprint-based FBI criminal background checks. The fingerprint based background check is a multiple step process.
