Dance Me a Story Camp
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Carlisle Arts Learning Center partner each summer to bring a classic children’s story to life through dance, art, storytelling and music. For 2024, children will explore the enchanting story of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® as they follow Marie and the Prince on their journey from Party, Battle and Snow Scenes to the magical Land of the Sweets filled with Soldiers, Sugarplums, Snowflakes and many more! Dancers will learn movement motifs from the ballet, explore the music composed by Tchaikovsky, and create artwork based on the tale. Children ages 4-6 will experience a summer camp that will nurture a love for both the arts and make-believe! Come join us!

- We provide a daily snack.
Dress Code
Students should wear comfortable clothing when attending CALC on Monday. For the remainder of the week, students must be in CPYB Children’s Division dress code.
Girls
Creative Movement: Mirella Girl’s Cap Sleeve leotard, Lilac in color (M515C) or Bloch Girls Essential Short Sleeve Leotard, Lavender in color (CL5602 or CL5402)
Pre-Ballet: Mirella Girl’s Cap Sleeve leotard, Blackberry in color (M515CD) or Bloch Girls Essential Short Sleeve Leotard, Aubergine in color (CL5602)
- Ballet pink or Flesh tone footed tights worn in shoes. Ballet shoes should be same tone as tights with elastic strap.
- Hair in a bun or similar style if possible; short hair secured with a band.
Boys
- White leotard or plain white t-shirt tucked into tights.
- Black, opaque, male tights or fitted leggings.
- Black ballet shoes with elastic strap.
- White socks (short).
- Hair neatly combed back out of face and secured.
