What is it truly like for young male dancers to train at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet? To experience a school of distinction firsthand and glimpse the possibilities of their future dance careers? To understand the steps necessary to realize their dreams?
This winter, our school invites them to discover it for themselves.
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) is pleased to announce the inaugural Men’s Winter Workshop, scheduled for February 13-15, 2025. This transformative three-day program is being offered at no cost and is specifically designed for young men aged 12 and up who possess at least two years of prior ballet experience.
This workshop presents an invaluable opportunity for young men to immerse themselves in a nurturing environment that blends rigorous training with camaraderie and inspiration.
What participants can expect:
- Specialized Technique Classes: Engage in focused ballet classes designed specifically for male dancers. This program will highlight the distinctive strengths of male performers, allowing them to sharpen their skills and elevate their artistry.
- Essential Partnering Skills: Partnering is a vital aspect of ballet. This workshop will provide focused training to enhance partnering abilities.
- Introduction to Innovative Weight Training: CPYB is excited to incorporate an exclusive introduction to our cutting-edge weight training program, led by fitness professional David Drinks from MedGym. This component aims to enhance strength, agility, and overall performance, equipping our dancers with the skills necessary to train as well-rounded athletes.
The CPYB impact:
Since the CPYB’s Men’s Program began in 2013, our alumni have gone on to grace the stages of esteemed companies such as New York City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Miami City Ballet. The Men’s Workshop is both an invitation for young male dancers to envision themselves joining this exclusive community and an outstretched hand offering and guidance towards that dream.
For families who may be looking for direction for a child who loves ballet but doesn’t have a school nearby offering training at the level they require and desire, the Men’s Workshop will provide a supportive environment where students can challenge themselves, learn from seasoned instructors, and forge lasting friendships.
The CPYB Community awaits and can’t wait to see the next generation of male ballet dancers shine. Registration for the Men’s Winter Workshop is now open. Space is limited.
