3 New Year’s Resolutions for Ballet Dancers

Feb 10, 2022 | Ballet

It’s the time of the year again when you start to reflect on the past year. What have you achieved? What needs to be improved? And more importantly, what new goals are you setting in 2022?

Setting goals is especially important for ballerinas, as you always want to improve and be a better dancer. If you’re a budding dancer taking youth ballet classes and you wish to write your 2022 New Year’s Resolutions, here are some things you might want to add to your list:

Try a New Dance Style

As a young ballerina, one of the most exciting things about taking ballet classes is learning more than just the classical style. Dancing is an art form, and we all have our preferences, but the more techniques you learn, the more versatile and complete a dancer you become. Why not try a new one you haven’t tried yet in class?

Work on Your “Bad” Side

Most of us have a “bad” side when it comes to our bodies. Most dancers, for example, perform better on their right side. If you’re a dancer and want to improve your ballet skills, you need to work on your weak side. Practicing on your “bad” side will make you a more balanced dancer and a better performer.

Watch More Shows

If you want to become a better dancer, what better way to learn than watching professionals? There are amazing ballet shows you can watch online, ballet DVDs you can buy, and incredible shows you can go and see in person. If you go to a show and find yourself thinking, “How can I do that?” you might be inspired to improve your skills and achieve more in the new year.

Resolutions Can Help Take Your Skills to a New Level in the Coming Year

If you’re a ballerina, setting goals is essential, whether it’s for the summer, the new school year, or the next few years. Ballet summer camps are a great time to set your New Year’s Resolutions for 2022, as you will get to see how you can improve in just a few months. If you love taking ballet classes, make sure to set goals to become the best dancer you can be.
