Ballet is one of the most prestigious forms of classical dance, originating in the 15th and 16th centuries during the Italian Renaissance. Since its origin, ballet has remained one of the most renowned forms of dance worldwide. Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s 5-Week Summer Intensive Near Washington D.C.

The Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet provides an engaging, hands-on 5-week ballet camp program that focuses on advanced techniques in both training and strength. In addition to intensive training, the program also includes an extensive curriculum designed to bolster in-depth knowledge of ballet and the arts.

While students are undergoing their 5-week ballet program, they will also be introduced to a myriad of supplemental activities, ranging from traditional partnering classes to exploring new forms of dance. From Pointe and character classes to lively modern and hop-hop dance sessions, there is no shortage of activities for students during their ballet intensive.

At this time, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet is not currently holding auditions for the 5-week summer intensive ballet program. Instead, those who are interested in enrolling as a student (between the ages of 7 and 18) must do so by completing and submitting an application. Applications must be completed thoroughly and must include three requested photos before the application is reviewed and/or approved. All students who are accepted into the ballet summer camp near Washington, D.C. will learn in a safe and welcoming environment on the Dickinson College campus.

What is a Ballet Intensive?

A ballet intensive program at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet is a program that provides a robust curriculum and hands-on training. The intensive is typically designed for students focused on acquiring advanced training methods and ballet techniques.

In most cases, a ballet intensive’s duration will range between one and six weeks in total. Students who are enrolled in a ballet intensive through Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet are required to be present for hosted classes while also engaging in supplemental activities and exercises. Intensive programs are more demanding than traditional ballet classes, but they are often much more rewarding. In addition to being immersed in intensive training exercises, students will gain access to individualized training from notable ballet professionals and teaching staff available around the world.
