Ballet Summer Intensive Near Philadelphia

Nov 14, 2022 | Ballet

The Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, or CPYB, has been providing classical ballet training since 1955. Founded by Marcia Dale Weary, CPYB still incorporates Marcia’s dream and vision into our student curriculum. Because Marcia’s teaching style was so notable, distinct, and clear, it is still used throughout most of the teachings at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet today. The Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet is home to outstanding instructors, including Noelani Pantastico, Rose Taylor, Alan Hineline, Simon Ball, and Melinda Howe. We are proud to work with our distinguished faculty to help guide our students into the world of classical ballet.

For those who are interested in a dance intensive to develop their technique and improve their ballet skills, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet will once again offer our 5-week ballet summer camp for qualifying students in 2023.

What is a Ballet Intensive?

A ballet intensive is essentially a ballet summer camp that is hyper-focused on various elements of ballet. From learning traditional movements to securing you ballet technique, a ballet intensive provides students with a unique opportunity to build their skills.

A ballet intensive typically lasts anywhere from one to six weeks, depending on the course you choose and your skill level. Students who attend ballet intensives are required to participate in a variety of activities and exercises throughout the course. Depending on the level of skill, some students will focus on harnessing their personal style and artistic expression, while others will focus more on technique with a comprehensive curriculum.

What are the Benefits of a Ballet Intensive?

A ballet intensive is designed for students who are serious about improving their classical ballet skills, abilities, and technique. Ballet intensives help to prep students for prestigious opportunities, competitions, and the potential for advancement.  Some of the most notable advantages of enrolling in a ballet intensive at any age or stage of learning include:

  • Unparalleled training by prestigious faculty and notable ballet performers
  • One-on-one direction and guidance from faculty throughout the entirety of the program
  • Advanced curriculum and intensive direction
  • Rigid structure and routine each day to help instill new abilities and techniques
